I don’t think I had ever had someone care as much about my progress as my coach did. That was completely different from anything I had ever experienced.

I honestly don’t remember a time in my life when I wasn’t dieting—or at least thinking about dieting. I was always chubby, so weight has been something I’ve struggled with for as long as I can remember.

By high school, when those things start to feel more important, I was already around 300 pounds, and the weight just kept creeping up. By the time I was about 27 or 28, I was still constantly thinking about food—reading calorie labels, checking carbs, trying to figure out what was “good” or “bad” for me. I was always going to “start on Monday.” And yet, my weight continued to climb, eventually reaching 410 pounds.

At some point, I think I Googled “weight loss system,” and MetPro came up. I read a bit about it, saw the advertisement, and thought it sounded interesting. But when I read about the coaching and accountability aspect, I remember thinking, I’m bigger than that. I don’t need someone checking in on me.

I can tell you now—I absolutely needed that.

What really intrigued me was learning, for the first time, that you could actually change your metabolism. I was skeptical. I thought, Yeah, right. We’ll see. But I decided to give it a shot.

I started working with my coach, and we communicated at least once a week—sometimes more in the beginning. There were messages, check-ins, and constant support. And honestly, I don’t think I had ever had someone care as much about my progress as she did. That was completely different from anything I had ever experienced.

Early on, she asked me what my goal was. I didn’t really have one. In the past, I always plateaued around 230 pounds, and I’d never been able to push past that. So I told her, I don’t know if I can even get beyond that point. We decided to just focus on the process and see what happened.

She told me I needed to eat more—five times a day. That alone went against everything I thought I knew. For six to eight months, I literally set alarms on my phone: 6 a.m., 9 a.m., noon, 3 p.m., and 5 p.m. I had never eaten that frequently in my life. I used to eat once a day.

I didn’t believe it would work. It didn’t make sense to me at all. I weighed everything—even carrots. If something was a quarter ounce over, I’d cut it down. My mindset was, I’m going to prove this doesn’t work.

But then the weight started coming off.

I kept telling myself, This is where it stops. I’ll get back to 235… 232… 230… and that’ll be it. But it didn’t stop there. The weight kept dropping.

She’d ask me again, What’s your goal now? And honestly, I didn’t know what to say. I had never been in that territory before. I had never seen anything below 218 pounds in my adult life—ever.

And then we went past 218.

At that point, everything was uncharted territory. I didn’t know what my goal should be because I had never imagined getting this far. Now, my goal is to reach 175 pounds. And I can promise you this—I never, ever want to see 200 again.
