I was working out an hour plus a day, six days a week at least, and wasn’t seeing any kind of body composition change. I was only gaining weight. I just wasn’t feeling like myself. I turned 40 and then everything, like the body, quits working.
I was trying whatever was on Instagram or Facebook, or using the Lose It app to track my food. Mostly trying to cut calories. I was still working out a ton, training for a marathon, but eating a super low amount of calories or skipping meals, because I thought that was the route you should go. That was obviously not working well at all. I went through that for several years and made zero progress, and I was starting to get super defeated.
There’s so much information out there, and none of it’s streamlined to you specifically.
I’m in finance. I can research nutrition, but it’s not going to help me figure out what I need to do. I was very nervous and apprehensive to call and set that up. Honestly, it was a last ditch effort. Nothing else had worked.
What I found interesting was how Coach Jess would change things based on how my body reacted. I can reach out to her directly and say, hey, this isn’t working, or is this something I can eat, or I’m not having enough energy, what do I need to do? And she adjusts it. If I’m going to dinner somewhere, I can send her the menu and she’ll help me decide the best option for the plan I’m on.
I always thought eating less was the route to go. Now I just eat a ton of food. The mindset changed too: it’s fuel versus eating. At first I was confused by how much I was eating. I felt like there was no way, with that amount of food, that I shouldn’t weigh more. But I was dropping inches like crazy. I was feeling better. Clothes were fitting better.
Before, I would train and then sleep all day because I had no energy. This time was completely opposite. If you can run a race, or even four months of training, actually fueled, you feel like a different human. I had the energy to keep doing the other things I wanted to do.
When I went to London, I literally packed a whole carry-on suitcase with all my food because I had no idea what would be available over there. I was fascinated by how much more prepared I felt, and how much calmer that made me. It was the first race where I didn’t get halfway through and think, why the heck am I doing this? Usually as soon as I finish, I’m thinking, I’m never doing this again. This time my brain went straight to, what am I doing next? I relate all of that to how well I felt and how prepared I was.
Before all this, I was shying away from everybody. I was so not myself. I knew what feeling like me felt like, I wanted it back, and I just didn’t know how to get there. Now I feel more back to myself. I’m not shy. The confidence is back.
You could go the route of injections and things like that when maybe they’re not necessary. This is just changing your diet to make you better. I would 100% tell anyone to try this. And don’t forget to do measurements, because the scale is not the only thing.
Hands down, this was the best money I’ve spent on any of it. I’m glad I went this route. It really has changed things. And now? It’s just so easy.
