Get Up and Stretch!

Sitting at your desk all day has negative impacts on your body, counteract it by getting up and doing these stretches.

Sitting at your desk all day has negative impacts on your body, research shows you need to get up every hour. Standing up and doing these three simple movements helps counteract all of your sitting. Give the following a try!

Glute Squeezes
Get out of that office chair! Stand with your legs shoulder-width apart. Squeeze your glutes as tightly as you can for four seconds, repeat 3 more times.

Arm Circles
Continue standing with your feet shoulder-width apart and extend your arms parallel to the floor. Circle your arms forward using small controlled motions while making the circles bigger until you feel a stretch in your triceps. Do this exercise for about 10 seconds and then do the reverse.

Ankle Circles
Get comfortably seated in your chair again and start by turning your ankle around slowly in circles to the left, then the right. Keep your movements small and focus on only using your ankle and foot, and not your leg.

Remember to try to do this multiple times a day to get your blood pumping, muscles stretch, and help your mind keep to the tasks at hand.
